Sitting at Oak Tree in the Garden

The teacher at the sangha is Patrick Gallagher, an authorized teacher in the Sanbo Zen stream of Zen. Sanbo Zen incorporates elements of both Soto and Rinzai Zen and affiliated sanghas can be found around the world.

The Oak Tree in the Garden sangha practises zazen together at 50 Vaughan Road weekly, on Wednesdays from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. We also offer monthly zazenkai and twice-yearly sesshin.

Although our group is not a drop-in, people who are interested in joining, or even people who are just curious, are invited to contact us. We offer orientation sessions, which allows participants to find out about sitting zazen and try it for themselves. No commitment is implied or assumed by participating in orientation sessions.

There is no fee for any activities at Oak Tree in the Garden, but there is a Dana box, where, voluntarily and anonymously, anyone can donate towards the upkeep of the zendo.
